Free Kiwi ride a marketing twist

Monday, 17 March 2008

Creative Kiwis have come up with a novel marketing strategy that gives them a market captive to their tourism messages.

Tourism New Zealand now has five hybrid cars zooming around Sydney offering to take people where they want to go, reports The Australian Financial Review.

In return, however, the passengers have to watch a DVD about New Zealand and chat to a host about all kinds of Kiwi-type things – which doesn’t sound so bad.

Apparently Tourism New Zealand is very happy with the campaign, which at a cost of more than $300,000, is cheaper than a billboard campaign of a similar duration.
