A really green mower for lazy gardeners

Friday, 28 March 2008

Husqvarna AutomowerSpringwise reports this week on a new robot lawn mower powered by green energy.

Outdoor power products manufacturer Husqvarna launched the Automower Solar Hybrid this month, says Springwise. Automower, developed in Sweden, is powered by solar generated electric energy.

It cuts so fine that grass clippings are left as fertiliser, and will mow for 60 minutes before needing a recharge.

You don’t even have to push it. Just lay out a wire border to prevent the robo-mower from rolling off down the street or getting stuck in a shrub.

Husqvarna claims it can save gardeners up to 40 hours a year.

Bengt Andersson, Husqvarna Group CEO, extols that “90% of Automower is recyclable, it eliminates the need for fertilizers, it is quiet, has no exhaust emissions and ensures your lawn is always well-kept."

The only catch; it’s not cheap. It retails for £1500 in Britain. See local dealers for prices.
