Bidding hots up for .asia domain names

Friday, 28 March 2008

The .asia domain has officially gone live, heating up the battle among bidders to obtain the most valuable or popular web addresses.

And a quick look at the live auction ticker run by DotAsia Organisation, reveals some very interesting domain names remain available to the highest bidder, for example:

  • Australiancricketboard.asia (auction starts April 7).
  • Bearstearnsasialtd (auction starts April 8).
  • Cablenewsnetwork.asia (auction starts April 8).

Among those web addresses that have already been auctioned off, prices seem to range between $1000 and $5000, although a few, such as ace.asia, have topped more than $20,000. Some domain names that have already sold include:

  • Lottery.asia ($1050).
  • Travelinsurance.asia ($2050).
  • Ace.asia ($20,501).
  • Jokes.asia ($1284).
