Software firm Adobe has announced plans to provide Google and Yahoo with technology to dramatically improve the searchability of web content generated using Flash.
ClickZ reports that Flash has been partially searchable, but it often does not produce a good result for the searcher, with text rearranged or made harder to read.
The improved technology should allow the searchbots used by the likes of Google and Yahoo to identify a much wider range of text within Flash content.
The announcement may prove significant for advertisers and the developers that work for them because it could make Flash – which otherwise is an affective tool for producing colourful and dynamic web content – a more appealing option.
"I think this makes Flash more attractive to use, but you also have to be careful not to fall back into the old times when Flash first came on the market and people went crazy with it," Andreas Roell, chief executive of digital agency Geary Interactive told ClickZ.
