Email newsletter sells for $US125 million

Friday, 8 August 2008

In news that will warm the heart of every online publisher, US media company Comast has agreed to buy Daily Candy, an email fashion and culture newsletter aimed at women, for $US125 million.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Daily Candy has 2.5 million readers, including a large number of readers in urban areas, a valuable demographic for advertisers.

The WSJ says the email newsletter format “is of growing interest to advertisers who are migrating to new, internet-based ways of reaching targeted demographics”.

Comcast will aggressively promote Daily Candy across its other internet publications and also plans to use Daily Candy’s content to add to its publications with a consumer and lifestyle focus.

Daily Candy was founded in 2000 by Dany Levy and produces daily editions for London and 11 US cities.
