The founders of Computer Troubleshooters, Wilson and Suzanne McOrist, are serial franchise entrepreneurs. The couple created and ran the Express Bookkeeping franchise from 1989 until last year. Their insiders’ view of small and medium businesses enabled them to see how many were struggling with their computers.
They started Computer Troubleshooters in 1992 to provide on-site computer services to small businesses. They grew the network one franchise at a time throughout Australia and then headed overseas to Britain and the United States. Computer Troubleshooters is now a global network with more than 480 franchise outlets in 24 countries, including Kuwait, Egypt, Bahrain and UAE. More than 50% of their revenue is earned overseas.
The company is trying to transform its “break/fix” reactive style of support to a proactive style of managed IT services, where customers pay a set monthly fee for IT fixes to solve problems before they arise.
