Les Katz - Liftshop

Les Katz started the Lift Shop in 1996 because he thought he could supply lifts in a better way and cheaper than rip-off competitors.

“Prior to our clever technology, lifts for private homes (say three floors) cost $90,000 to $150,000, including the shaft,” he says. Katz says he provides a three stop lift for less than $60,000. Quiet periods are scary, but the company is growing year by year and now has $4.2 million.

His company has had a major impact on the industry, he says. Now the weak competitors are struggling, but new competitors are copying his company.
