Karen and Simon Cariss - PageUp

In 1997, biochemist Karen Cariss and her partner Simon launched a web-based people management system in 1997. Cariss says they identified two problems: they wanted to reduce the cost and time taken to manage internal and external recruitment, and improve the management of the use of people within an organisation.

Initially PageUp focused on commercialising web applications. Their near death experience was brought about by producing a product that the market was not ready for.

Now PageUp assists large global organisations to acquire and train their best talent through developing talent management systems and solutions. Clients included Thiess, Macquarie Bank, BHP Billiton and NAB. Exciting new markets are China and Britain, and revenue grew to $5.4 million in 2006-07 from $3.7 million for the previous year.
