Father Michael Kelly – Church Resources
Father Michael Kelly established Church Resources in 1997. With an estimated turnover of $30 million, it is one of Australia’s most successful internet businesses. Church Resources offers bulk purchasing rates to organisations and communities involved in the church and not-for-profit sector. Many of these organisations help people in our community and the savings they make help get funds to those that need it. The company is well supported by corporate Australia, in sectors including telecommunications, IT, utilities, recruitment, travel and vehicles. However, Church Resources is not a charity. It’s a business. Father Kelly has responsibility for management, staff, business strategy, marketing and establishing contracts with vendors. It took imagination to start an internet business in 1997, but in 10 short years Father Kelly has built a string of websites to help the church and not-for-profit sector. In 2007, the Church Resources website was awarded a Hitwise top 10 for traffic to the site, illustrating how successful the business has become. In acknowledging this success, it should be noted that Father Kelly also carries out duties as a priest. Serving Mass, weddings, christenings and the many other services that help people in our community. Through Church Resources and as a priest, he has helped thousands of Australians. He stands tall among Australian entrepreneurs and should be a wonderful inspiration and idol. He clearly shows how passion can translate to commercial success. He is an incredibly talented and capable man, who some have described as “a force of nature”.
