How can I stop the IT guy reading our emails?
Dear Aunty B,
Our IT systems at work are always breaking down. I mean who needs to use the internet or computers nowadays anyway? It’s not like they are essential to all of our jobs.
Anyway, our IT guy at work, who in my view is pretty hopeless, has started wearing a t-shirt which says “I read your emails”. It’s freaking everybody out as he’s not supposed to read our emails but we are all sure he does. I’m pretty sure that’s all he does besides telling us to try turning our computers on and off when we go to him with a problem.
What can we do to stop him invading our privacy by reading our emails and wearing this offensive t-shirt?

Dear Larry,
I feel your pain with IT systems, I really do. I find calling my teenage son and getting his help is by far the quickest way to solve any IT problems. I hate to admit he sometimes tells me to turn my computer on and off again as well and it’s amazing how often that works.
Anyway, back to your IT guy. He probably does read your emails because if they are your work emails they are owned by the company and the company has a right to be able to access them. It’s also hard to stop him wearing that stupid t-shirt unless of course you work at the type of place where everyone is supposed to wear suits all the time. Even if you do, generally, IT types tend to wear suit jackets with t-shirts underneath.
Just ignore the t-shirt and make sure you alert him to every IT problem so you can keep him occupied with enough IT issues that he doesn’t have time to read your emails.
Be Smart,
Your Aunty B
