Nathan Betteridge, Paul Wenck and Michael Kearney started their internet site, Everyday Hero after spotting "a need for simple, intuitive, low cost tools in the not-for-profit sector," Betteridge says.
"We wanted to improve fundraising and supporter engagement through the use of the internet."
"Our product is used by NFPs of all sizes, but is incredibly effective for small to medium causes with little capital at their disposal."
Through Everyday Hero, fundraising groups can create their own web pages for their cause or charity, use tools to attract more donations from users who can donate directly through the site, as well as gain access to new supporters through Everyday Hero's viral Hero Pages.
Since its inception, Betteridge says the business has created a niche market in Australia and more importantly, has driven the business global at the same time.
"We've developed a product that is world leading, with divisions and customers in the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and New Zealand," says Betteridge.
And the most rewarding part of starting up Everyday Hero?
"Seeing small charities, with perhaps just one part-time employee, raise amounts of $200,000 or more online in weeks."
MOST CHALLENGING PART OF STARTING YOUR BUSINESS:
"Pioneering a new market that needed to be convinced of our message through evidence. We learnt that the only way to do it was to meet and demonstrate the solution to as many people as possible, face-to-face."
