Stuart McGill and Jurgen van Ark began face-to-face recruitment firm Work Partners after observing the declining membership rates of unions and charities. Immediately the pair saw an opportunity - convince organisations to outsource their recruiting campaigns.
"We identified that our target audience have had declining membership sales for many years, or have not operated in the markets that Work Partners has targetted. They were unable to recruit members or subscribers, or were doing it in a very high cost manner."
The pair says in the last 18 months they have recruited 4,000 new members for the Education Union, and have recorded revenue of $1.4 million.
The company is quick to avoid the reputation of annoying and pushy direct sellers, saying it attempts to "understand and connect... rather than making them feel uncomfortable".
MOST CHALLENGING PART OF STARTING YOUR BUSINESS:
"The main challenges for us have been getting the right blend of skills and/or employees necessary to succeed; managing rapid growth and a diverse virtual work force and changing the attitudes of Unions."
