A business networking event has been founded that borrows from the idea of an open-mic comedy night, where entrepreneurs take the floor to pitch their business ideas in front of others.

BlobLive attendees put their ideas out in the open in exchange for feedback, advice and business connections. The first event was held last year in Philadelphia, but has spread to several US cities such as Nashville and Los Angeles.

The vents cost $US10 for entry, but memberships are available for $US20 a month, which provides access to all the service's events, including pitch coaching lessons.

The service is also making use of social media, using online streaming and Twitter to update happenings at events.
