Like Aunty B I never won the crown in the class spelling bee, so in most cases I miss the spelling mistakes of others, but when I do spot them I have a bit of a laugh and move on. It's not the end of the world because unlike the anally retentive I know from my own experience it's not that I don't care, it's just that I could read it 1,000 times and it just would not register as being spelt incorrectly.
That said, you are right, spell checker is your friend, but you need to make sure of one little thing - which is that by default it points to the US dictionary not the Australian one.
99% of companies who sell you a PC do not check that so it pays to go around all your PCs and make sure it's set correctly.
Also on a HR note, if the PA is doing a great job everywhere else in your business then finding ways to help her overcome her spelling weakness will make sure you have a dedicated and very committed staff member. Remember little things like this do count and you will always be rewarded.
