Job application site emulates Twitter
Following the success of online micro-blogging site Twitter, which invites users to update what they are doing in 140 characters or less, a marketing agency has invited job applicants to do the same.
Energize, based in Utrecht in The Netherlands, has designed an application form for openings for an account manager and strategic planner.
The online application form looks exactly like a Twitter update page, including a blank field to type in text. Candidates then enter a short personal message detailing why they deserve the job the most.
Users need to upload a resume, as Energize will not publically "tweet" the details of any applicant for privacy reasons.
The applications, which have forced applicants to become literate and succinct in order to apply, test their writing skills and can save valuable time for a HR director looking to do the same.
