Neil Singh & Candida Stephens
Sector: Internet, retail
Fidarsi started life as an online retail store for high-end luxury designer furniture, eliminating much of the traditional costs such as showrooms and warehouses. That means it could sell quality, comfortable designer furniture at a fraction of the retail price.
Co-founders Neil Singh and Candida Stephens have since grown Fidarsi to become an Australian designer furniture brand in its own right, working alongside some of Australia's most talented architects, interior designers and luxury hospitality clientele.
The business has revenue of more than $2 million and Singh says it viewed last year's downturn as a challenge and put its energy towards harnessing the power of technology and social media, and as a result enjoyed rapid growth month-on-month.
"Our distinctive portfolio of contemporary furnishings coupled with our innovative approach to utilising furniture as fashion enabled us to succeed on the myriad of commercial projects completed last year," Singh says.
His three rules for success are to block out the noise of distractions, to remove 'impossible' from your vocabulary and when times are good: "Celebrate! Celebrate! Celebrate!".
