Sector: Internet, marketing and advertising
Zoe Warne started her online marketing agency, August, with partner Daniel Banik in 2005 – albeit in the month of September.
They have grown the business every year since then, despite the economic crisis, and are on their way to breaking $1 million in revenue for the first time this financial year.
The company has grown its team to 15 and picked up blue chip clients including Origin Energy, Snowgum and Foster's Group. Importantly for Warne it has stayed independent, having avoided selling out to any of the aggregation businesses that played havoc with similar companies at the end of the last decade.
Now she is excited about new opportunities with the mobile internet – and particularly with Apple's forthcoming iPad – and expanding further into video and immersive interactive design.
"Rather than just 'digital', it will be about 'screens', 'interactivity' and 'engagement' - whether the audience is stimulated to interact or consume passively will be the key driver," Warne says.
