John Winning is the founder and chief executive of digital business Appliances Online. His schedule demands some long days – and a lot of sleep. His favourite piece of tech is an app that allows him to get the most sleep possible and keep rested.

“I use the Sleep Cycle app a lot. It works as an alarm clock, but it wakes you up during the right part of your sleep. It measures your movements and then gives you analytics on sleeping patterns.”

“So you place it on your bed, and then it tells you how good your sleep was that night. You tell it to wake you up 7am, but it may wake you up at 6.30am if it detects you’re in a good portion of your sleep.”
