Telstra sells out its Nokia Lumia 920 pre-order stock
Mobile phone giant Nokia could be on its way to making a comeback in the Australian market, with Telstra announcing that it has sold out of its pre-order Lumia 920 stock.
The news suggests a strong launch for the Finnish phone giant’s flagship Windows Phone 8-based smartphone.
“Due to strong demand, pre-order stock for Nokia #Lumia920 has been exhausted. [Limited] stock will be in select stores from 27 November,” a Telstra representative tweeted.
“We did our best but demand was beyond amazing and stock has been limited globally from Nokia.”
“Demand globally [for the Lumia 920] has been higher than expected.”
The new smartphone has been described as a “make or break” product for the company, with a leading Finnish shareholders’ group and a former executive attacking Nokia CEO Stephen Elop over the decision to abandon the company’s MeeGo platform in favour of Windows Phone.
