Dropbox founder reveals how he turned down Jobs

Dropbox founder Drew Houston has discussed how he turned down takeover offers from both Apple and Google, based on hopes his company will become "the next Apple or Google".

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times Houston has confirmed speculation that he personally declined a takeover offer from Steve Jobs at Apple's Cupertino headquarters in December 2009, along with a similar offer from Google's Sergey Brin.

During the interview, Houston also states that his company has already reached profitability.

Dropbox is a cloud storage service that allows people to sync a directory across their computers and mobile devices. The company offer users two gigabytes of free storage space online and up to 100 gigabytes for $10 a month.

Launched in March 2008 with funding from Y Combinator, the company confirmed in October last year that it had raised US$250 million from seven investors after declining Apple's offer
