31% of web malware attacks caused by Blackhole toolkit: Report

A new report has revealed that 31% of all malware attacks on web users are caused by a single toolkit, known as Blackhole.

The report, compiled by Sophos and published on Ars Technica, also shows that over half of all malware is installed through "drive-by download" attacks.

A drive-by download attack is where malware (such as a virus or keylogger) is downloaded onto a user's computer without them knowing. In the case of some toolkits, such as Blackhole, the malware can then be used to load other malicious programs onto a user's computer.

The news comes as an important reminder to users to avoid suspicious websites and to be security conscious when online.
