How many you have started haven't worked?
Of the seven or so websites, about three or four of them are a potential business in their own right.
You haven't built one that you have dropped already?
There is another site oursignal.com, it is a news site and you can go there and see in a instant on what is popular on all the social news sites such as Digg and reddit and Delicious and what not, and that makes zero dollars and gets around 10,000 people a day using it, so for us it is something that we built because we wanted to do it but it has never made a cent and is probably never going to make a lot of money, but we keep it on the books anyway.
What is next? What is exciting?
We have got a few things in the pipeline, we do devote a lot of our time to improving retailmenot.com because that is the core of our financial revenue at the moment, so we are constantly improving that. We recently released a little tool for Internet Explorer users where it will automatically tell them if there is a coupon available for the site that they are shopping at, but I have got another couple of projects that I am really excited about which the guys are working on.
Do you licence your technology out? Do you build for others?
Not really, we sort of have enough of our own ideas. While I'm always interested to listen to other people's ideas, I am a bit of a dictator when it comes to that sort of stuff.
You have a clear focus. You are building businesses, not services. Where do you see yourselves going forward, in five years time where do you see yourself? You are based in Melbourne, will you still be here?
I think so, we have already had amazing growth in the coupon area and there is amazing growth still to tap, so we'll be pushing that but I am really interested in anything on the web that can change people's lives. Something like Wikipedia is my perfect project personally, I am not saying that we are going to build the next Wikipedia but that is the sort of stuff that keeps me motivated.
Would you take on an equity partner or do you like running your own show?
Yeah, well we don't need the money; we have been profitable since day one. It is actually one of the things we do to stay lean - we are fairly skeptical about partnerships, it would have to be a very good offering for us to pursue.
What about as a bit of a cash cow coming in?
There is opportunity there, but you have to factor in the long-term costs of keeping a partner happy.
Are you both taking a nice salary?
It is enough to pay for our wives extravagant lifestyles.
Then you will remain happy men!
