Google reveals Australia’s most popular internet searches

Internet search giant Google has released an interim list of the "fastest rising" search terms for the year, with "Swine Flu", "MasterChef" and even Microsoft's "Bing" search engine reaching the top 10.

The company regularly releases lists of the top search terms in several categories, including film and television, retail stores, products and services and individuals.

Microsoft's Bing search engine has come up as the seventh most popular keyword, just behind "Twitter", but managed to reach second place in the "most popular search" category.

The result is a testament to the site's growing popularity. According to market researcher ComScore, Bing gained 0.4% of the market in June to a total of 8.4%. It trails behind Google with 65% and Yahoo with 19.6% of the market, but analysts have still indicated Bing is becoming increasingly popular.

The company also said the fastest rising search terms included "Swine Flu", "MasterChef", Britain's Got Talent contestant "Susan Boyle" and "Stimulus Package".

Pity they haven't published the top ten search terms for the year.

Although, I have a horrid feeling there would not be much business-related content in that list!
