Unlike many entrepreneurs Finrecruit founder Matt Trustrum can sleep easy at night.
“I try not to take anything too seriously … it’s only suit work after all,” Trustrum says.
It’s been a hard journey, with Trustrum and co-founder Dudley Levell working hard to get the company off the ground.
“I didn’t used to get any sleep at all … I was in the office 24/7,” Trustrum says.
He entered the recruitment market in 2005 after noticing that the market was filled with large, general recruitment agencies and very few industry-specific ones.
Finrecruit searches for IT professionals for recruitment solely in the financial services sector – a very specific niche.
“Our one goal was to be recognised as the recruitment and executive search company to specialise purely in financial services technology,” Trustrum says.
And they have largely succeeded. Finrecuit has recorded a 44.38% growth in the past financial year, with revenue of $5,953,191.
Along with sleepless nights Trustrum faced quite a few problems starting up, particularly with “identifying staff with the same ethical values as us.”
Trustrum had to be patient during his startup and wants to let other entrepreneurs know that it is a powerful virtue.
“Going out on your own is a journey, be patient for the destination. Rome wasn’t built in a day so don’t be in a rush to just make money,” he says.
And Finrecruit’s next big move?
“We want to provide clear career pathways and opportunities for our staff and operate more consistently overseas,” Trustrum says.
“Finrecruit Asia is in a fortunate position to be partners to many financial service firms across Asia Pacific. Our plan is to leverage this and to develop those relationships and open new offices in new financial centers along the way.”
