Doubt is something that plagues most entrepreneurs at some point and Carol Campbell was no exception.
She’s had her fair share of doubt from within the company and outside it.
Since her early days she’s learnt how to brush off self doubt.
“Now I realise self doubt is just a small emotion that I don't listen to,” she says.
“Instead of thinking ‘what if it fails?’ I think how great it will be when we succeed!”
Campbell started Nepean Industry Edge Training in 2009, wanting “to create training programs that enage, inspire and motivate learners to believe in themselves,” and focusing on the Mornington Peninsula.
With revenue of $920,000 last year Campbell is growing closer to realising that goal.
“We run nationally accredited training programs in an environment which supports learners – we are all about creating a training experience,” she says.
“Our trainers are passionate about the area of expertise and want to share their skills and knowledge and support the industry they represent.”
“We take the fear out of going to back to study.”
Campbell employs a small but motivated staff and focuses a lot on making them happy.
“We ensure that we support and encourage the team so they feel empowered to make decisions without the fear of reprisal,” she says.
“I believe the best way to keep them motivated is by working for a company that they respect and want to be a part of – we acknowledge a job well done, we are flexible with work-life balance and we appreciate their expertise and professionalism.”
Campbell has good hopes for the future, albeit low-key, with the company about to sign a lease for a bigger site, putting all staff under one roof.
“We are targeting schools and young learners to capture them before they drop out of school, providing a supportive learning environment and giving them an opportunity to gain a qualification,” she says.
