Looking for a future partner or just a hot date? According to dating app Hinge, it could be worth taking a trip to the United States and hanging around the Facebook and MediaVest USA headquarters.
Hinge has compiled a list of New York’s top 10 hottest workplaces for males and females and, unsurprisingly, a mixture of high-end retailers, media companies and successful accountancy and consulting firms made the list.
The dating app reviewed 18,000 profiles and determined which users were “favourite” most often and where they worked.
For good-looking guys, Facebook topped the list, with men working at Facebook being considered attractive 38% of the time.
Women at MediaVest USA were considered the biggest babes, being favourited 57% of the time. Impressively the MediaVest USA girls came in ahead of Victoria’s Secret and Chanel.
Earlier this year Hinge secured $4 million in funding, and in the United States it’s considered a more romance-minded version of popular dating app Tinder.
It’s still small compared to Tinder, but has around 60,000 profiles in New York, Boston and Washington DC, according to TechCrunch, and pools people’s potential matches based on putting them in contact with friends-of-friends, as identified through Facebook.
Also making it to the list of New York’s most attractive companies were Brown Brothers Harriman and PR firm Weber and Shandwick (coming in second for males and females respectively), MTV, Bloomingdales, Tory Burch, Apple, KPMG and Amazon.
The founder of PR firm Sammway, Samantha Dybac, told SmartCompany appearance is important in the workplace because people make first impressions.
“People always go on first impressions, we see something or someone and make a judgment, whether that is right or wrong,” she says.
“People who present well will be respected and looked upon more favourably compared to people who look scruffy.”
When it comes to job interviews, those who are dressed nicely are also more likely to get the job.
“I know when I’m hiring staff I’m always influenced by how a person is dressed and their appearance. I have two staff members who are young and attractive and someone said jokingly yesterday ‘where did you get yours from, they all seem to be pretty hot’,” Dybac says.

“I certainly don’t hire staff based on just appearance, but it does influence me to a certain extent.”
Dybac says image is all a part of personal branding.
“Regardless of whether you’re someone in an organisation, or an entrepreneur, your appearance is important because it’s an outside reflection of yourself and it’s the first thing people look at,” she says.
