Mahbod Moghadam, co-founder of annotation service Rap Genius has been fired after posting tasteless comments regarding the memoir of mass murderer Elliot Rodger.

 

In a statement, Rap Genius co-founder and CEO Tom Lehman explained why Moghadam’s behaviour was unacceptable.

 

“Mahbod Moghadam, one of my co-founders, annotated the piece with annotations that not only didn’t attempt to enhance anyone’s understanding of the text, but went beyond that into gleeful insensitivity and misogyny,’’ he says.

 

“All of which is contrary to everything we do here at Rap Genius.”

 

Apple set to reveal smart home software platform

 

The tech giant is planning a platform that would enable its iOS devices to control users’ smart home devices such as lights or connected appliances.

 

According to a report from the Financial Times, Apple will reveal the platform at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference next week.

 

The platform will be built into the iPhone, as opposed to spreading it over multiple third party apps.

 

Oculus to be used for cyber warfare

 

America’s Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) recently showed off demos for Plan X, a software platform designed to unify digital attack and defence tools into a single, easy-to-use interface for American military hackers.

 

DARPA has been experimenting with the Oculus Rift virtual-reality headset to give users a new way to visualize three-dimensional network simulations.
