A new survey shows 35% of Australians have decreased spending in both retail and online environments, and a further 35% will also stop in the next six months.

Conducted by StollzNow Research and commissioned by RightNow, the survey also shows 29% of respondents also plan to decrease their online spending in the next six months. A whopping 36% say they will spend less per person on Christmas presents, while 27% say they will buy fewer presents.

The majority of respondents said they plan to save the money from the Government’s economic stimulus package next month, not spend it.

The survey also shows customer satisfaction is in decline.

A huge 47% say they have suffered a negative customer service experience in the past half-year, while 79% say they have stopped shopping at a business due to a bad experience.
