Are the experts always the ones to go to for advice?

As an IT generalist I agree with both points of view mentioned above. I have to say that IT differs from other areas of expertise, as today’s expertise is tomorrow’s useless information, so we remain the specialist expert for a very brief time before we all become either out of date or generalists.
I make use of my team of experts who will do over 100 days of training this year, plus hours of reading and research to be up-to-date experts. It is through them and their advice that I and my clients can stay up-to-date in a fast paced world of technology developments.
