It was necessary for this to happen. Not that I have ever had the need to use either of these services, they both faced the “portal paradox”. While SEEK has competition, it also has a natural monopoly. People like it that way because they don’t need to go to several portals to find all the jobs, they can find them all in the one place. Competition is actively encouraged but consumer behaviour is the hardest to influence and change. Therefore the paradox for portals is there can be no equals, only one. If you fail to sufficiently differentiate yourself, your portal will never get the critical mass needed.
