I don’t think many employees are confused about their relationship with their employers – I think they’re well aware it’s just a work relationship, they just wish their employers would stop using creepy, insincere corporate rhetoric about shared vision and purpose and “an authentic, real and open conversation that is created spontaneously by employees” (example taken from a blog on your very own website).
It’s hardly an authentic, open conversation if one party is able to sack the other party if it feels it needs to.

I think it’s the employers, not the employees, who need to get their act together and find a way to motivate people without resorting to false, emotive, cheesy language. They can do that while still giving out free lunches, massages and drinks!
