HP to launch NFC-enabled mouse in November

HP has announced that it will launch the Touch to Pair computer mouse in November based on Near Field Communications (NFC) technology, allowing users to connect their mouse to a computer or other digital device with a single tap.

While NFC is a technology used on “touch and go” payment systems and public transport tickets (including Melbourne’s Myki system), HP claims the use of the technology in a computer mouse is a “world’s first”.

According to Tom’s Hardware, the new mouse will be able to fall back to Bluetooth in order to communicate with older devices.

The November release date suggests the company might be planning to ship the NFC-enabled mice with its Windows 8 devices.
