Power Play: Tell a great story
Tuesday, September 25, 2012/
Power Players collect great stories as they move through their lives. Then they remember them so that they can use them at just the right time.
Become a great storyteller. Find charm in the details. See the beauty in the idiosyncratic nature of life. Why? A great story is the exclamation mark in life. Stories animate and captivate the imagination and my favourite Power Players tell some of the best stories I’ve heard.
Get comfortable sharing stories, telling stories, and working out what makes for a good story in the first place. This is the most important part. Listen closely to the people you know who are great storytellers.
See how they use words to illuminate and illustrate. It’s a long-lost talent and it needs to be resuscitated any chance you get. So get cracking on collecting those stories and on telling them to your audience with great energy and passion.
