How Quad Lock started
It was 2011, in the early flurry of Kickstarter, when Chris Peters and Rob Ward launched Quad Lock, a smartphone mount pitched at cyclists.
As an early adopter in e-commerce, it was global from day one, and has since expanded much more broadly across motorcycles, running, cars and lifestyle.
Growth
The iPhone was launched in 2007, and by 2011, smartphones were ubiquitous, but high-quality mounts and cases were not. Quad Lock had a big advantage as an early mover, and over the next decade perfected the basics of fulfilment, customer journey and content.
When the pandemic hit and consumer behaviours changed – with millions more shopping online – Quad Lock were ready to handle the huge uptick in sales.
In 2020/21 the company achieved $88 million in revenue. By 2022/23, that had almost doubled to $153 million.
Where to next
Quad Lock is now focused on building the business in its critical overseas markets to enable further scaling.
That means meeting customers where they are in real life, at events, and through key global ambassadors. The active adventure community lives to push boundaries, and Quad Lock aims to meet them there with its ‘Beyond Digital’ consumer engagement strategy.
