Mexia Consulting is an integration specialist for Microsoft BizTalk Server and Windows Azure.
It provides integration, development, maintenance and training services to medium and large companies across a wide range of industries.
Robertson started the business because he saw a gap in the market for the expert delivery of software integration services.
“No one was delivering this specific niche service for Tier 1 customers in Australia. Plenty of consulting firms include this service as part of a wider offering, but no single company embodied the expertise, focus and deep technical ability that I believed had a place in the industry as a discrete service offering,” he says.
“We begin every project by properly understanding our clients’ systems, business operations and processes… Our solution-focused approach ensures our clients can get on with running their business more efficiently.”
Robertson says the most challenging part of starting up was dealing with the non-technical side of the business – sales, marketing, financial management and operations.
His advice to other entrepreneurs? Don’t go it alone.
“Find a business partner that supplements your skills so that one plus one equals far greater than two,” he says.
The best part of starting a business is the satisfaction that comes with making a difference, says Robertson, not only in your own life but in the lives of your staff and customers.
“We are contributing to the economy, putting people in jobs, paying taxes and helping customers solve difficult, real world problems. All that from a little start-up,” he says.
