A survey from Sensis last year revealed that just 14% of SMEs have a presence on social media.
While I trust that our tech-savvy readers aren’t among the 86% of businesses that shun Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and blogging, I do fear that there are few readers who may not have dipped their toes in the water.
So here’s an easy way to get involved.
Go on to Twitter and do a search for a keyword in your sector. For this exercise, I pretended I was an accountant and searched on the phrase “end of financial year”.
Scroll down a bit, and you’re likely to find a comment like this: “Mired in endless paperwork. End of Financial Year and the asset stocktake really burns me!”
Great opportunity! Send this person a tweet with a link to your EOFY checklist, or offer them some handy hints about keeping paperwork under control.
Will they become a client? Probably not. Have you just shown yourself as an expert to the Twitterverse? You bet.
People are asking questions all the time on Twitter. Reach out and help someone just once a day and you’ll quickly get a reputation as an expert in your field.
Get it done – today!
