start-up-idea-belgium-stampBpost, the Belgian company responsible for the delivery of national and international mail, will issue chocolate stamps next month.

The Bpost stamps, which are the first to combine taste and smell, taste like chocolate when you lick the gum on the back.

Flavours include sprinkles, pralines, chocolate spread, pieces of raw chocolate and bars.

“It was not easy to get the scent and flavour of the dark chocolate right. In the end, people from Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland all worked on it,” Bpost says.

The stamps are being issued to honour and celebrate the country’s famous chocolatiers and chocolate as a national delicacy.

Is there an opportunity to do something similar here? The chocolate market is always looking for ways to reinvent itself, and chocolate stamps could be one way of doing that.
