Oliver MilmanDoron Ben-Meir is a man on a mission. A year into his chief executive role, he has more than $200 million to give out, equity free, to start-ups.

Of course, Ben-Meir is no ordinary CEO. He heads up Commercialisation Australia, the Government’s principle funder of start-ups, and is keen to unearth as many innovative ventures as possible.

Today, he speaks to StartupSmart about the challenges faced by Australian entrepreneurs and dispenses his tips for start-ups keen to access a government grant.

Elsewhere, we reveal the five finalists in the $100,000 Enterprize competition and mentor Colin Benjamin explains how to identify your target customer.

Are you an emerging business with three years of strong growth? Then you could be eligible the annual Smart50 awards at our sister site SmartCompany.

Entries close today, but you’ve still got time to get in the running.
