Australian document sharing software startup Nitro has announced it will be integrating its Nitro Pro product with Microsoft Rights Management Service to provide enhanced security for document workflows.

Nitro Pro with RMS now enables users to protect and securely exchange digital documents with anyone in their collaboration circle.

Group program manager for Microsoft Rights Management Dan Plastina says the company is thrilled Microsoft RMS has been integrated into Nitro’s flagship desktop product.

“Nitro Pro with RMS provides maximum security to user-permission workflows that hadn’t previously been addressed,” he says.

“By putting the power to protect sensitive information in the hands of the end-user, PDF files and documents can be secured, whether shared internally or with outside collaborators by requiring identify verification before file access is granted.”

Vice president of product at Nitro Mimi Hoang says whether on desktop or in the cloud the way an organisation shares documents can have a significant impact on its success.

“The increasing flow of shared information has exposed vulnerabilities in traditional document security, making it difficult to control who can access sensitive files,” she says.

“Whether someone accidently forwards an email or a user has malicious intent, the end result is that sensitive information can wind up in unintended hands.

“Providing users with peace of mind and more control over who can access documents irrespective of their destination, our integration of Microsoft RMS with Nitro Pro means our customers can comfortably share digital documents as intended between both employees and third parties.”

Nitro founder and CEO Sam Chandler says the integration was a result of the company listening to its customers.

“Protecting sensitive information is a top priority for our customers, and their feedback was the catalyst for developing this integrated functionality with Microsoft,’’ he says.

“We’re delighted that Nitro Pro is now the easiest option for organisations to extend RMS protection to their PDF files and broader document workflows.”
