Symantec posts fourth-quarter profit

Internet security company Symantec has recorded a 3% increase in revenue in its final quarter for the American financial year, recording revenue of $US1.5 billion.

For the 2010 financial year, which closed on April 30, revenue was $US6 billion, representing a decrease of 3% from 2009.

The company said strong sales were a major factor for the improved figures in the fourth quarter, with Norton 360 delivering 37% of sales revenue.

Additionally, the company said enterprise revenue was up 1%, with the Symantec Hosted Services software-as-a-service offering recording double-digit growth and “record revenue”, according to the company.
