Computer company Hewlett-Packard has released a laptop they believe has a battery life of 24 hours, trumping rival Dell’s E6300 model by five hours.

HP announced the low-power Elitebook 6930p on Monday, which costs $1775 and uses brand new solid-state drives from Intel that are lighter, faster and more efficient.

The computer achieves its long-life by utilising solid-state drives produced by Intel, a smaller LCD screen and an optional ultra-powerful battery that costs an extra $189.

The laptop also boasts features that aim to reduce battery life, such as reducing the refresh rate of the computer screen, and reducing the power given to the screen.
