Senior Apple exec meets with Turkish president Abdullah Gül over possible $US4.5 billion iPad purchase

Apple’s vice president of education John Couch has met with Turkish president Abdullah Gül over possible $US4.5 billion iPad purchase for the nation’s school system.

Apple Insider reports the potential contract would see around 15 million Turkish school students receive iPads as part of a major government initiative.

Gül also discussed Apple misplacing several keys on the standard Turkish “F Keyboard” layout during the meeting.

Turkey was one of 56 countries to gain access to music and video downloads from the iTunes Music Store as part of a rollout in December.
