Twitter beating Facebook in mobile ad revenue

Twitter has a stronger mobile ad revenue base than major rival Facebook despite having fewer users, according to new market research figures.

The market research by eMarketer, republished by eCommerce Times, projects Twitter will bring in US$129.7 million in US mobile ad revenues in 2012, placing it well ahead of Facebook on $US72.7 million.

However, both social media companies remain significantly behind search and smartphone platform giant Google, which is projected to record mobile ad revenues of $US1,423.1 million during 2012.

The news comes despite the fact that only 15% of US internet users had a Twitter account as of June this year, with only 8% using the service on a daily basis.
