iPhone Jot app

iPhone users with fat thumbs can now take advantage of a free application that turns short voice recordings into written notes.

The application, Jott, takes the voice recording from your iPhone and sends it back in text form to the Jott notepad on the iPhone in a jiffy. The text can then be transferred to other electronic organisation tools or lists.

The app is designed to be used for short reminder messages – “pick up the drycleaning” type stuff – so it’s probably not the kind of thing you can use to dictate your work correspondence.

But it could be a very handy organisation tool. Once the app is downloaded, a simple flick of the screen triggers the voice recorder, with the text automatically appearing moments later. Pretty easy, especially given that it’s free.
